FlixBus in Germany: punctuality, delays and where to track your bus

By Bustempo · Published 11 October 2026 · Updated 15 October 2026 · figures refresh automatically from the archive

Germany is the home market: Flix runs the densest intercity bus network in Europe here, with hubs at Berlin ZOB, Munich ZOB, Hamburg ZOB, Frankfurt and Cologne, and since 2018 the FlixTrain services on the Berlin–Cologne, Berlin–Stuttgart and Hamburg–Munich corridors.

Punctuality in Germany is shaped by three things: roadworks on the A1/A2/A7 corridors, the Friday and Sunday student peaks, and the long stop sequences in city traffic (a Berlin ride can call at Südkreuz, ZOB and Alexanderplatz before it even leaves the city). The numbers below are measured, not estimated, and refresh daily.

Germany in numbers (9 October 2026 to 15 October 2026): 236 lines departing from 40 cities, 842 measured rides, 48.8% on time, median delay 5.3 min, P90 35.6 min, 0% cancelled. Operators seen: FlixBus, Regiobahn, FlixTrain, Freiburger Reisedienst, Arriva, Euroclub. Full detail on the Germany country page.

When to travel

Departures around 19:00 had the best on-time record in Germany (76.9%); around 11:00 the worst (35.9%). Avoid Friday afternoon departures from Berlin and Munich if you have a connection; Saturday morning and Tuesday to Thursday departures are the quiet ones. Border services to Prague, Vienna and Amsterdam suffer from occasional checks that add 15–30 minutes.

Passenger rights

Regulation (EU) 181/2011 applies: on services of 250 km or more, a cancellation or a departure delay over 120 minutes gives you the choice between a refund and re-routing, plus 50% of the fare if that choice is not offered. Details, thresholds and a complaint template are in the compensation guide.
