About Bustempo

An independent observatory for Europe's intercity coach networks: where every vehicle is right now, how late it is, and how reliable each line has been over time.

What it is

Bustempo started as a live 3D map of every FlixBus and FlixTrain vehicle on the road. It grew into a small platform around one idea: the live feed is ephemeral, but a record of it compounds. Every completed ride is archived with its scheduled and actual times per stop. From that archive we derive reliability statistics per line, route and station, email alerts for delays, signed delay certificates for compensation claims, and departure screens for venues.

Who is behind it

A small independent team of engineers and frequent coach travellers. We are not an operator and we do not sell tickets; booking links on reliability pages may be affiliate links, which do not change the price you pay. Legal details are on the imprint page.

Data sources

All live data comes from the publicly reachable endpoints that power the operators' own "track my bus" pages. We poll station timetables, read each ride's GPS position and per-stop actual or estimated deviations, and fetch route geometry so vehicles follow real roads between fixes. We keep the request rate modest and cache what can be cached.

Independence

Bustempo is an independent, unofficial project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Flix SE, FlixBus, FlixTrain or any other operator. Live data comes from publicly reachable operator endpoints and may be incomplete or delayed. Delay certificates document what the live feed reported; they are supporting evidence, not official operator statements.
